All about Volvo C30 – Review

Like the 480, the Volvo C30 is able to accommodate four adults in relative comfort. It is designed to appeal to both the young fashion conscious without a family and to those young-at-heart whose children may have left home and who want a distinctive, small, sporty yet functional safe car. Volvo plans to make 65,000 C30s a year and sell approximately 7,000 a year in the UK, Europe’s second biggest market for the Volvo C30, although the downturn in new car sales might make some impact on these figures.

2012 Volkswagen Beetle – Review

The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle would like us all to forget some things--that it ever had "new" in its name, that it ever had a bud vase on its dash, that it ever occupied more parking spots at more sororities at more of our nation's colleges than actual pledges did. This time around, the Beetle wants to be your bad bromance, and it gets things rolling with sheetmetal that's been butched up and pulled taut. If the flat-top roof, the unsubtle Turbo stickers and the red-painted calipers didn't clue you in, we'll just point to the place on the dash where the flower pot used to live.

How to lease a car in Toronto

Leasing a car in Toronto is perhaps the best option for those who can’t stand the idea of sticking with the same car for more than four years. You can generally forget about the cost of general maintenance repairs, as most warranties provide coverage for the duration of the lease, though you’ll never really own the car outright (unless, of course, you choose to buy the car after the term ends). Leasing can also come with certain restrictions, such as the number of kilometers you can drive each year, though the zero down payment does allow for a certain, lots-of-new-tech-toys-type of freedom in its own right.

Chrysler talking to Banks about Auto-Lending Venture

DETROIT—Chrysler Group LLC is in discussions with banks about establishing an in-house lending arm through a joint-venture to better compete in the U.S. auto market, according to people familiar with the matter.
Chrysler, which gave up its struggling finance unit in its 2009 bankruptcy, has used government-owned Ally Financial Inc. as its preferred lender for customers loans and leasing, and for the loans that dealers use to finance vehicle purchases from the manufacturer.
With its contract with Ally scheduled to end in 2013, Chrysler is talking to several major lenders including Ally, and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., to create a new lender. Banks have approached the auto maker in the past year as its fortunes rose.
Chrysler today writes far fewer leases than rivals on its new vehicles. Above, a shopper checking out Dodge pickups in Peoria, Ill., last month.

Audi Q7 TDI Review-2012

Audi Q7 TDI is a good competitor in diesel luxury full-sized SUV segment

Audi-Q7-V12-TDI1

Audi has always been the underdog when it came to comparing their models to standard setters made by BMW and Mercedes-Benz. But over the last decade or so, the Ingolstadt brand has been making a huge statement for themselves. It’s one that tells the world that they’re not to be taken lightly and that other automakers should beware, Audi is here to play the game.
Initially, not all of Audi’s entrances to the luxury segment have been hits and the Audi Q7 full-size crossover SUV is one of them. This is mainly due to the Q7s limited utility ability from its streamlined shape, despite being a sports utility vehicle. Additionally, some call the Audi’s aesthetics controversial, which is something I beg to differ. Either way, to show that Audi is keeping up with the times of weary fuel economy figures, they introduced a new diesel V6 for the US-spec Q7 and they gave us one to see what we think.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Review-2012

The Gallardo Spyder is a car that looks great from any angle, hood up or down. That's quite an achievement.

Lamborghini_Gallardo_lp-570-4

The Sant’Agata Bolognese-based automaker has finally released their latest exotic, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder Performante. Based on the Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder, the Gallardo Spyder Performante is what happens when Lamborghini engineers go the extra mile in further reducing the weight of an already lightweight supercar. While some may shun at the attempt, thinking that chopping off more weight would be next to impossible, the folks at Lamborghini set out to prove the naysayers wrong, reducing the car’s weight by 143 lbs, leaving it with a dry weight of just 3,274 lbs, which, in case you’re keeping score, makes this the lightest Lamborghini to be released in the open-top sports car segment.
This is the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder Performante.

Bentley Continental GT Review-2012

The Fast and the Furious: Menace on the Mediterranean

Bentley continental GT

We want a Bentley to feel both weighted down with that famous wafting substance and yet always ready to spool up fast and hard like an express train when there's an opportunity to overtake the poor. One could see that as a dilemma for the automaker, as the world jumps on the "lightweight and green" bandwagon. But this, in reality, is a form of special dispensation we allow both Bentley and Rolls-Royce year after year. If Bentleys started feeling light or harried, we'd be less impressed.
We could see closing the roof of the new Bentley Continental GTC when we might, say, want to explore high-speed runs, but even then it would feel improper; the GTC looks so damned good and inviting with that big roof down. We've driven the second-generation Continental GT with the massaged 6.0-liter W12 bi-turbo, now pumping out 567 horsepower peaking at 6,000 rpm, and cranking forth 516 pound-feet of torque between 1,700 and 6,000 rpm. That 5,115-pound bear of a GT roars to 60 mph in a reported 4.4 seconds. The soft-top version we're driving now weighs 5,500 pounds, gets to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and is limited to "just" 195 mph. Yes, 385 pounds have been added to its curb weight, all in the name of making sure this wide-open scoundrel of substance doesn't bend like a noodle versus the hardtop. Ever try to juke with 385 pounds attached to your lower extremities? It's a lot, but the Continental is a lot of car.

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Review -2012

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti (named after Sergio Scaglietti, the man responsible for sculpting some of Ferrari’s most famous aluminium models)
Ferrari 612 Scaglietti
Is easily the most technically advanced GT ever built in Maranello. And even though it’s been with us since 2004, it still impresses with its technical and engineering prowess. At low speeds this is like piloting a limousine. Quiet, comfortable and supremely refined, it cossets and cushions like few cars can, which is exactly what I was expecting. What comes as a complete surprise, however, is how the Scaglietti goes when pressing on a bit. The power comes in like a tidal wave as the revs rise but it’s delivered in complete control, never really catching the driver unaware. There’s no need to keep an eye on the rev counter because the interior is filled with the orchestral soundtrack of that thoroughbred V12 and it’s nothing short of intoxicating – something that does the fuel consumption no good whatsoever.

BMW X6 Review-2012

BMW X6 more-expensive mutation of the BMW X5.

Overview
To hear BMW tell it, the X6 combines the presence of an X5 with the sporty elegance of a coupe. The X6 does indeed have the presence of the X5, on which it is based. It is similarly sized, offers the same up-high seating position, and comes with 4-wheel drive. As for sporty elegance, it’s an anybody’s choice . Undeniably, the X6 is heavily restyled compared to its more conventionally shaped sibling, with a lower roofline and a more sloped hatchback. Those changes make for reduced interior volume. The X6 was designed as a 4-seater, although now it can be had with a 5th set of seatbelts. The squashed roofline and the high beltline makes X6 hard to see out of; the backup camera and available blind-spot assist are essentials. The X6 handles less like a tall, heavy SUV and more like a sport sedan; its sophisticated all-wheel-drive system can send power not only from front to rear but also from side to side to aid cornering. The downside is a fairly stiff ride. The base 300-hp, 3.0-liter  6 is turbocharged. The 4.4-liter V-8, also turbocharged, adds 100 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque.
